A realistic tour prototype of Heathfield Community College, Cade Street, East Sussex. Public spatial data establishes the campus position, broad building outlines and terrain. The college diagram and photographs inform the fitted interiors and finishes. This is an interpretation, not a surveyed building record.
What you can explore
70 labelled rooms and spaces, including 32 upstairs. Science, Geography, Art, Computing and Sixth Form areas now have upper interiors. Eight internal stair flights connect levels; 21 exterior step flights replace the earlier generic ramps. The main sports hall remains double-height, with Dance and Cycle studios above the adjoining ancillary area.
Use Map → View floor to choose ground or first-floor rooms. Full-height partitions, ceilings, door openings and corridors form enclosed rooms. Teaching and study spaces contain desks, chairs and whiteboards; the Cycle studio has exercise bikes. Walls, furniture, stair treads and landings have matching navigation surfaces and barriers.
Basketball courts
Both the basketball hall and main sports hall now include floor markings and a hoop at each end, with wall supports, backboards, orange rims and nets. The larger hall has a 28 × 15 m playing area. The smaller hall uses a fitted practice layout; hoops remain 3.05 m above the floor. These additions are inferred game geometry, not a claim that the actual school equipment or markings have been surveyed.
How closely it matches
Google, Apple and Bing aerial views were visually compared with the georeferenced footprints. They broadly agree on the roof layout and open courtyards; this comparison does not establish exact dimensions. Separate services may share imagery. Capture dates were not exposed in these aerial views. Copyright dates are not capture dates.
The main entrance follows the photographed two-storey teaching spine, with a pale reveal, steps, dark green glazed doors and white school-name lettering. The doors are shown open for the walkthrough; that pose is inferred. Upper windows and many ground-floor bays have real openings. Tilted solar arrays, distinct sixth-form roof heights and the twin-peaked courtyard canopy restore recognisable exterior features. Exact window spacing, panel count, roof pitch and entrance position remain approximate.
The official college diagram supports upstairs room names and subject groupings. Ground-floor English, Languages and Maths arrangements also use the supplied sketch. Letters such as English A–G are temporary test labels, not school room numbers. Room proportions, floor heights, doorways, stair positions and furniture remain fitted estimates. Sixth-form map captions are ambiguous about floor datums; two physical levels are modelled. Sports studio placement is an interpretation of its inset diagram.
The main spine now has enclosed corridors on both floors, with connecting passages to existing entrances and wings, wider routes around the science stairs and doorways into unlabelled side spaces. The nominal corridor width is 3.6 m, about 3.44 m clear between walls. These plans and dimensions are inferred, not surveyed; the 70 existing room labels are unchanged.
The supplied corridor photograph informs cream walls, a forest-green lower band, golden fleck flooring, radiators, pipes, notice boards and fluorescent fittings. Its exact location is unverified, so the finish assignment and new partitions do not claim to reproduce that precise corridor.

Textures and delivery
Original repeating textures recreate observed surface types. Brick, plaster and other applicable materials use colour, normal and roughness maps; wood, parquet, carpet, vinyl and acoustic ceilings have tiled finishes. Texture scale follows approximate material dimensions. Unphotographed room assignments and desk finishes are inferred. These are generated/procedural materials, not scans of the actual surfaces.
Local ambient occlusion adds soft contact shading at wall junctions, beneath furniture and around frames. It follows the reconstructed geometry rather than measured lighting. The browser uses AgX tone mapping, daylight, nearby ceiling lights, cached shadows and a photographic HDR environment. Lighting, reflections and the sky are artistic approximations.
Selected trees and shrubs use Shrub 04 by Rico Cilliers, with simplified shrub geometry and leaf textures on generated tree branches. The sky uses Overcast Soil (Pure Sky), by Sergej Majboroda (original) and Jarod Guest (sky edits). Both assets are supplied by Poly Haven under CC0. These generic assets were not captured at the school; plant species, crowns and bed arrangements remain illustrative.
The editable Blender scene retains original-resolution packed maps. The phone GLB embeds smaller maps and compressed geometry, with the sky bundled separately. School source photographs, map tiles, notices and photographed people are not shipped as game textures.
Earlier base-colour packs remain available: six room textures and two photo-informed textures. These packs do not contain all current PBR maps.
Rendered with Three.js (MIT licence). Compressed meshes use the bundled Draco decoder licence.
Testing limits and privacy
The walkthrough uses floor-aware collision for room doors, stairs, landings and headroom. It remains a visual and movement prototype. Phone-sized browser checks do not establish performance on every physical iOS or Android device. Battery saver, Balanced and Sharper settings adjust rendering cost and detail.
No location, microphone, camera or contacts are requested. Only control preferences are stored on the device. An internet connection is needed to load the tour; Add to Home Screen provides an app-style launch.
